As of 1 Nov 2026, 07:30 (UTC+7) / 01:30 in Naples
Is Naples Airport closed? Yes. Naples International Airport (Capodichino, NAP) is closed to all flights from 1 to 30 November 2026 while its runway is rebuilt, according to the airport operator GESAC. Some flights have moved to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi e del Cilento Airport, and special buses link Naples city centre with Salerno for the whole month.
Flying to or from Naples this month? Airport changes, new gate details and bus times mostly reach you by app, email or text. With your own mobile data you can check your flight, follow the transfer to Salerno and use maps without hunting for Wi-Fi. Follow GESAC and your airline’s instructions first.
What is happening at Naples Airport
GESAC, the company that runs both Naples and Salerno airports, said in a press release dated 29 October 2026 (PDF) that Naples Airport stays closed to air traffic for the entire month of November. Crews are stripping and rebuilding the runway and its taxiways and replacing the runway lighting system, working around the clock, seven days a week.
In practice, no flights use Capodichino from Sunday 1 November to Monday 30 November 2026. If your ticket still shows Naples as the departure or arrival airport for a November date, check your booking and your airline’s messages now rather than at the airport, and ask the airline which airport, date or refund option applies to you.
Which flights use Salerno Airport instead
Part of the Naples traffic has moved to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi e del Cilento Airport. According to GESAC’s November flight and transport page, Salerno offers 15 destinations this month:
- Within Italy (6): Bergamo (Ryanair), Milan Malpensa (easyJet), Milan Linate (Aeroitalia and ITA Airways), and Genoa, Turin and Trieste (Aeroitalia).
- International (9): Amsterdam (Transavia), Barcelona (Vueling), Casablanca (Air Arabia Maroc), Dubai (flydubai), Düsseldorf and Stuttgart (Eurowings), Madrid (Iberia), Paris (Transavia France) and Sharm el-Sheikh (Air Cairo and Neos).
If your route is not on that list, your November flight has not simply moved to Salerno. It may have been cancelled or rerouted to another airport, so the details in your airline booking are what count.
Getting from Naples to Salerno Airport
GESAC and Busitalia Campania have added a special bus between Naples Piazza Garibaldi (Napoli Centrale) and Salerno Airport for all of November. It runs eight times a day in each direction, with times planned around flight departures and arrivals. Per the operator’s 27 October announcement (PDF), a one-way ticket costs 12 euros per passenger and is bought on board with electronic payment, so carry a card or a phone wallet rather than cash.
There are also more buses between Salerno Airport and Salerno railway station, and a trial shared taxi at a fixed fare between Salerno Airport and the central railway stations of Naples and Salerno. Because these services were set up for November only, check the latest timetable on the day you travel.
What to do
- Open your airline booking and confirm which airport your November flight now uses. Do not go to Capodichino for a flight this month.
- If you are flying from Salerno, plan the trip from Naples carefully: the special bus runs only eight times a day each way, so pick a departure that leaves a comfortable margin before check-in closes.
- Staying on the Amalfi Coast or in Salerno? Work out your transfer from Salerno Airport before you land, rather than after.
- Keep the GESAC page and your airline app handy, since November schedules can still change.
- Set up mobile data before you leave, so airline messages and bus times reach you on the move. Choose an Italy eSIM plan
